"Comiso was the first Iblea town in which Rosario Gagliardi sojourned and the first to benefit from his prolific architecture. Gagliardi came here between 1724-1730 from Noto, to design and build the Trigona nobility stronghold in the Canicarao district, a large and fertile valley, a stone's throw from Comiso". (V. Lena)
Torre di Canicarao, whose nucleus dates back to 1400, was designed and built in 1700 by Rosario Gagliardi, the architect of Ibla’s San Giorgio Cathedral. The typical Baroque architecture, that characterises the entire Val di Noto area, invokes splendour and the atmosphere of a bygone era. Agritourism’s furniture has been recently restored and still retains all the charm of the past in a building offering modern, comfortable amenities.
